Steven McClurg is the CEO of Canary Capital, where he leads investment strategy for the firm’s hedge fund focused on alpha opportunities in digital assets. With a background that bridges traditional finance and crypto, he brings deep expertise in navigating the evolving digital asset landscape. Previously, McClurg was Co-Founder and CIO of Valkyrie Funds, acquired by CoinShares in 2024. He helped launch one of the first U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs and managed the top-performing ETF of 2023, the Valkyrie Bitcoin Miners ETF (WGMI). His earlier career includes leadership roles at Guggenheim Partners, Galaxy Digital, and founding Theseus Capital and Paydrop. He has also held positions at Electronic Arts and Crowdfunder. McClurg holds an MS and MBA from Pepperdine University, where he has also taught as an adjunct professor.
