Litecoin's 2025: In Review!

Institutional firsts. All-time network highs. Privacy front and centre. Unprecedented adoption and integration.
2025 was the year Litecoin was illuminated as sound money.

Privacy Milestones

Since Litecoin MWEB activated in 2022, the optional privacy feature has seen incremental and healthy increases in balance and transactions. On December 16, 2025, MWEB’s balance reached an all-time high of 402,000 Litecoin (~US$32m). This all-time high in MWEB balance signifies more Litecoin users than ever see great utility in additional privacy when sending, receiving and holding their Litecoin. 

While ‘privacy’ may have been 2025’s theme for crypto, it’s been one of Litecoin’s attributes for almost four years - making it one of the most battle-tested ‘privacy’ coins. Except, it’s just one of digital silver’s attributes - giving Litecoin greater flexibility in everyday life and commerce than any other digital currency.

Nexus Making Privacy, Easy

Launched in early 2025, Nexus Wallet is the official wallet of the Litecoin Foundation - and damn has it shone.

Network Health & Security

On December 06, 2025 Litecoin’s hashrate reached a new avg daily all-time high of 3.827 PH/s (per Coinwarz) For context, this is a 99.4% increase on last year’s peak and previous ATH of 1.919 PH/s, achieved on December, 28, 2024.

Hashrate is an important indicator of Litecoin’s network security and health, as it reflects support of more miners, pools and node-runners.

Real-World Retail Favorite

In 2025, Litecoin continued to prove it is the go-to cryptocurrency for real-world payments, ranking among the most used assets across major payment processors. According to BitPay’s Decrypted 2025 reports, Litecoin consistently placed within the top three cryptocurrencies by transaction count, accounting for approximately 20–30% of all non-stablecoin payments in March, June, and October.

Processor CoinGate also saw tremendous growth in Litecoin payment volume - accounting for up to 14.9% of all CoinGate transactions at points in 2025. Notably, CoinGate also revealed that 5% of Litecoin payments were retained on merchant balance sheets rather than converted to fiat or other crypto; a strong signal of merchant confidence.

Telegram Added Litecoin

Another real-world privacy favorite, Telegram, made Litecoin available in its Wallet in March 2025. Non-US users can buy, sell, and trade LTC within the Telegram Wallet, alongside Bitcoin and Tether. With 1b+ monthly users, Litecoin’s addition to the Telegram ecosystem was a big step forward in awareness; which we hope translates to greater use in 2026!

3 Million Blocks, 100% Uptime

On November 9, 2025, Litecoin processed block # 3,000,000. A remarkable milestone. Especially as this block - as with all before it, and since - went through without issue. Something you’re probably sick of hearing, but is truly remarkable: Litecoin has 14 consecutive years (5195 days) of 100% uptime and counting! So shout out to all anonymous node-maintainers, miners, pools and block verifiers for making Litecoin the most reliable cryptocurrency in existence. Litecoin Got Its First ETF

In November 2025 Litecoin officially joined the ranks of Bitcoin and Ethereum with the approval of its first U.S. Spot Litecoin Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). Announced by Canary Capital Group, the NASDAQ-listed LTCC fund represents a landmark moment for the most enduring and reliable crypto.

In 2025, the Bitcoin miner evolved into a Litecoin-centric treasury with more than 20,000 LTC. Committed to helping Litecoin grow, Luxxfolio has injected funds into the ecosystem and deployed assets into yield-generating protocols.

First U.S. Litecoin Treasury

Launched on July 18, 2025, Lite Strategy (NASDAQ: LITS) is the world’s largest Litecoin Treasury Company. As at time of writing, the treasury held more than 929,000 Litecoin.
